Tacoma ecu swap
I have a 2002 Tacoma prerunner doublecab v6 that I swapped to a 4x4 manual trans with j shift. I have wired my truck to get it running but it cant get the CEL to go away. Would I be able to put a 4x4 m/t ecu from a different year tacoma and have it work? For example there is a 2001 ecu for sale near me.

Welcome!
Do you know what the Check Engine Light is for? What Codes?
You will probably need an ECU for a manual 4WD Tacoma, since that is basically what you have now.
Hopefully someone who knows these Tacoma ECUs better than me can tell you what ECU you might need.

As Oldboy said you’ll need an M/T 4wd ecu. What did you do with the plugs that went to the auto? How have you rigged a clutch safety switch?
Have you scanned the codes to see what the source is? It could be totally unrelated to power train and you have a bad coil pack.
