5vz aftermarket temp gauge help.

I have an electronic temperature gauge I want to hook up to my engine. Can I splice the aftermarket gauge wire into a factory sending unit? If so, where is it? I've heard there is one in the back of the engine and one right behind the timing cover.

Thanks in advance.

If you are referring to what some call the water temp sending unit, its a small white plastic connector that gets its ground through a small metal tab on the back of the plenum. Hard to see, even if monkey'n on top of the engine.

Is the secondary gauge to see digital readings?

It is NEVER a good idea to bastardize the factory wiring harness. Run your own wire.

What makes you think that the factory sending unit output is compatible with your aftermarket gauge anyway????

Not cut into the wiring harness, just run a wire from my aftermarket gauge to the factory sending unit and splice it in there. I didn't think there was a place to in the block to put in an aftermarket sending unit so I thought this would be the easiest.
