I replaced a 2001 1.8L engine in an 01 Corolla with a 2005 Toyota Corolla 1.8L engine. The knock sensor on the 05 is a 2 pin sensor and sits on a stud with threads on it. The 01 knock sensor screws into the block. Very different knock sensors. The knock sensor connector on the 01 is for a one pin and one wire running from it. The 05 sensor has two pins and does not match to 01 connector. The computer I am using is from the 01 Corolla. What are my options for installing a knock sensor on the 05 engine?

 

simple, remove the 2 wire sensor, remove the stud it mounts to and screw in the older style sensor. we have been doing this in celicas for years.
