Best Engine for Diesel swap

I accidentally posted this question in the wrong place last time...
I am looking at doing a diesel swap on my 93 pickup dlx 22re. I was thinking about a TDI from a jetta and wondered if there was an engine that would be better suited for the engine bay and for the demands that I will be putting on it. I will be using it as a daily driver and a hunting rig.

I'm working on building a Cummins 4bt right now to put in my 94' pickup when I'm done. But I work on them on a daily bases in heavy equipment so I'm a little biased.

For the pickups and runners, seems like OM617 Mercedes and the VW TDI motor are most common. I have heard great things on the 4BT but my studies on it is for even the solid axle trucks, it is too heavy for them.
