Got this 4wd 1982 toyota pickup sr5 with the 22r wanting to swap this 2rze motor in i got from a 2wd 2000 toyota tacoma.
Im trying to find out what Ill need from the Donor truck and what ill need to buy for it all to work out. Any other harnesses i could get to not deal with all the other plug ins.

Get everything electrical related and motor related from the donor and use it. I used the entire body/engine harness from a '96 Taco and installed it in my '83, super simple. I wish I would have used the entire dash and fit it in too. I also used the Taco steering column, fuel lines and fuel tank. Like I said most everything from the donor.

 

Will it mount onto the 82 transmission? How about the motor mounts?

 

I run an A340 and it bolted right up with a TC and bell housing swap. I used Chilkat motor mounts.

 

What make and vehicle does the a340 come out of? I will need a bell housing attached to it to bolt to the 2rzfe engine ?

Going to start ordering the motor mounts and some exhaust upgrades.
Be pulling out the ol 22r soon!.

Up to 2004, trucks and 4runners with a 4spd auto, I think in '04 they had 4 and 5spd autos, just don't get one from a 2RZ prerunner it's a different trans. Mine came from a 3RZ 4runner. Toyota auto bell housings have the motor family letters cast into them, RZ for this, the V6's say VZ etc.

So with those Transmissions in the 4runners in the future am I going to be able to double up on transfer cases.? Where do I purchase the Bell housing adapter?

 

So A340F's from a non-Tacoma use a V6 adapter for the t-case. The Tacoma A340f's need the Tacoma adapter for gear drive cases. You do not need an adapter for the bell housing, you just need the right bell housing for the motor. The other issue is to be sure the TC from the trans will bolt to the flex plate for the engine choice.
