97 4Runner SR5 - Peachtree City, GA
I have for sale a 1997 4Runner SR5 2WD Automatic with ~208000 miles. With another kid on the way we are upgrading to a minivan, so the "Red Car" as our 3 year old calls it needs to go. Asking $4000. Here's the pertinent info:
First off I am an ASE certified technician with several years of dealership and independent repair shop experience, so naturally I did all the work myself. Purchased it in 2009 from Honda dealership I worked at, someone had traded it in and I pounced on it, it had 169k miles. At that time I put new front brakes (Toyota) & rotors, new rear shoes & drums, new master cylinder, valve cover gaskets/tube seals, spark plugs & wires and replaced the oem radio with a nicer Pioneer unit. I inspected the timing belt and saw it didn't have much wear on it, so it was replaced probably around 150k. In 2010 I put new rear shocks (KYB), replaced fuel filter and replaced trans and PS fluid. I also bypassed the factory tranny cooler and installed an aux cooler and a temp gauge. The auxiliary cooler keeps the fluid much cooler than the original. The driveshaft got new u-joints and was balanced by a driveline shop. I upgraded the headlights with '99 4runner housings and put clear corner and turn lenses. It also has a K&N air filter and Hella fog lights. Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts will need replacing within about a year. Other than the tires being a little out of balance, the truck runs and drives like new.
Condition: I consider the truck to be in great shape for being 17 years old. The body is not perfect by any means but it's not horrible either. It has a few hail dents and some door dings from parking lots, as well as light scratches here and there but that's about it.
As for the interior, the driver's seat bottom is kind of rough and the headliner needs to be redone, especially in the rear. Carpets are in good shape, just a little faded but clean. Cargo area has a plastic tray on top of the oem carpet cargo mat which still looks new. It has an aftermarket power moon roof that works.
Overall everything works except for the power antenna, it needs a new mast before it will go up and down. I do have and will include a complete timing belt/water pump kit with new tensioner and pulleys, cam and crank seals as well as a new thermostat and upper/lower rad hoses.
Truck is located in Peachtree City, GA which is about 35 minutes south of the Atlanta airport. It's definitely worth looking at, I've looked online at other 4runners for sale in the area and mine looks better than most. I have more pictures available on request.
