When I bought the 4runner it had broken a camshaft gear knock out pin on the camshaft and spun timing. I had the intentions of building a prerunner style 4runner with an Ls engine and long travel suspension so i wasn't concerned with the status of the stock engine. All I was concerned about was the cleanliness of the chassis, body, and interior; this 4runner is very clean with only 148k miles on the odometer and one previous owner besides myself. Long story short I ended up fixing the 3.0, here is a list of the parts i replaced within the last 2,000 miles:

Rebuilt Cylinder heads w/ New Camshafts
New Knock Sensor wiring
New Water Pump
New Timing Belt and Components
Multi Layered Steel Head gaskets (MLS)
New Head Bolts
New Thermostat
New Fluids
All new gaskets from the heads up

I also did away with the exhaust cross-over design to spare anymore issues with overheating and cooking valves.

With all said parts replaced and changes made the 4runner runs great with no issues at all. The A/C and heat work great and all power amenities work as they should. I've taken the 4runner on a few 300 mile road trips and it's performed flawlessly. There is a DVD player in dash and the front speakers are from Polk Audio. The tires probably have 2000 miles on them also. Great little 4runner for daily driving or maybe finish my prerunner project?
