Hello everyone, 94 4runner 3VZ here. Been getting code 71 (EGR) error, and failed my emissions due to high NOx.

I did the diagnostics here http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...77exhaustg.pdf and I'm fairly sure the EGR valve is clogged or broken.

So I go to pull it and find one of the previous owners decided to weld the bottom nut onto the EGR valve body. This is the nut that connects the pipe coming from the exhaust manifold going into the EGR valve. The intake manifold pipe came out fine and I cleaned it out. The exhaust manifold pipe swivels in the nut okay.

Pic attached. My thinking was to cut off the nut and just go buy a new nut and reuse the pipe. I tried hacksaws, jigsaws w/ metal blades and grinder bits. I barely made a dent in the nut or the weld. I did cut through some of the EGR valve body but stopped when I realized that it would just leave the threads in the nut and I wouldn't be able to get the pipe out.

So my question to you, anyone know of a good parts list/diagram that I can use to identify this part and find it somewhere online? eBay has nothing, save for some stuff for the 96+ 4Runners. Or does anyone have a spare pipe that they are willing to send to me? PM me if so, I will pay you and extra for quick shipping to Denver, CO. I'm nearing the deadline to pass emissions and get registered.

Otherwise I will hit up some of the junkyards this week.

 

90402-22005 is the nut part no.

 

Thanks YotaWoRx! Got a lot of results for that part number. All at around $100 though, hard to pay for that when I got it right here. Stupid PO. I'll check junkyards tomorrow before biting the bullet and paying for it.

 

Google the part no. I came up with around 4 bucks.... It's just the nut you are looking for correct? A metal cutoff wheel on an angle grinder will cut the weld like butter.

 

If the prior owner welded the nut to the threaded part, I really doubt you can remove "just" the nut. The welding almost certainly screwed up the valve body (for that matter, it was probably screwed up before, hence the weld).

But by all means give it your best to remove it. You won't know for sure until you can see the threads.

 

I would junkyard the whole assembly. The welding probebly toasted the temp sensor anyway.
