Exclamation '96 4runner Limited won't start. need help!

I made sure it wasn't the battery and I tried shifting from park, all the way down then back up. I'm totally new to this kind of stuff, don't judge me. I don't wanna jump to conclusions but I'm thinking it's either the starter or the ignition (When I turn the key all I hear is a click) if there's anything I could try to fix this please let me know

Could be the starter contacts. When they start to go it acts like yours, just a click. Normally people get the click a few times and then it will start. Then it gets worse and it takes more clicks. Finally it gets really bad and the contacts stick together and after your engine starts the starter stays engaged. If you can get it to start after a few clicks I'd bet it's the contacts. If not I'd check more into the battery connections and grounds.

Yeah I do get clicks usually and then it'll start. But the actual problem was that the battery isolator switch was getting bad continuity. But I'll be sure to keep a close watch on that starter in the future, thanks man
