Ok so my 5vz 3.4 is soon gonna get her timing and water pump replaced and I'm looking for so tips tricks and parts and tools list before I dig off into the project

I was hoping Durk would post a pic of his infamous pulley holder again. Getting the pulley still while tightening down the new crank bolt is a big PITA. Just bump the starter to loosen it.

I use this for a crank holding tool as it alaso works well for the cams.

 

Here you go:

Keys to a good 2x4 build:

1. Leave lots of wood PAST the hole;
2. Do NOT put the bolts on the centerline; put them on the diagonal.

If you do not follow these two rules, you WILL split the 2x4.

I was a carpenter summers in college. This thing took less than twenty minutes to build. No plans, no measuring.

1. Put socket on board, draw a circle around it.
2. Drill out circle.
3. put drill bits in pulley holes and and socket on crank bolt.
4. Fit hole in board over socket and hold against bits. Bash board with BFH.
5. Drill 3/8" holes at dimples and put 3/8" bolts in holes. Done.
