header wrap for 22re intake tube

Has any body ever tried wrapping the stock plastic air intake tube with header wrap to block out the hot engine air, so you could keep the already cold air from the stock box cold before it reaches the engine, any insight is good

Honestly I think it would be a waste of time IMO.

I'm pretty new to Toyotas but I've seen (I think it was on 4crawlers) a battery/air box swap that eliminates that long plastic tube running over the radiator. Which would also solve any radiator/air tube heat soak issues.... Good luck!

Cold air will increase the power output. Hot air helps fuel econ'. A shorter intake tube helps with throttle response.

The computer if it was engineered correctly should be taking into account the heat soak in the tube. Never bothered to look to see if anyone has quantified/measured this tep difference. Jam another sensor into a sacreficial intake tube near the throttlebody, take a reading with stock and shielded intake tubes.

Run a snorkel and an intercooler.
That'll get you some nice cold air.
