Question Throttle Body upgrades w/spacers 4 3.0

I was reading last night in my Peters 4Wheel mag and saw an article on hopping up a Jeep with some fuel & air hop ups. Has any one with a 3.0 upgraded their throttle body with one like Turbo Citys bored modified TB & spacer? I have thought of looking into the TB spacers but not sure who has them. I think Turbo City is a GM & Jeep specialist so who is a Toy specialist? How much would a hopped up TB & spacer help me?

Downey sells OEM + 3mm bord out throtle body. Catalog number 22230 it runs about $249

I do not see any TB spacers listed.

I have seen TB spacers for other vehicles but, what is designed to do?

Create a vortex of air into the intake manifold.

or

Extend the air flow between the TB and intake manifold

or

Keep the TB cooler by isolating it from the intake manifold.

I've heard that they don't make a difference.

The throttle spacers that is.

I had a shop up in Canada bore out my 22RE's t-body and intake. They were cheaper than what Downey wants for just a bored out t-body. They do 3.0's too. Let me see if I can find the link to the write up about 'em....

Unfortunately, I can't link directly to the article. You'll have to go to this guy's tech page and scroll down a little to the overbored t-body/intake article,

TB spacers are a waste of money. But bored out TB's work well if you can get it set up right. I have seen people get them and have trouble with their idle fluctuating too high. I'd say just make sure you understand how to tweak one before you order it.

DOA does an overbored throttle body. $290
http://www.doaracingengines.com/

Metal Action does it along with overboring the intake manifold.

Has anyone tried using throttle bodys from other toyotas? Like a supra? or even an aftermarket tb for the supra?

Also anyone know how much the kit from metal action is?

You will need to port the plenum to get the additional air flow to the cylinders. IMHO, no worth the $$$.

if there is anyone who has an extra 3.4L TB or that can afford some downtime and wants theirs bored out, please PM me. youll get a discounted rate on the boring of your TB.
he just needs to make sure (by looking at one iun person) that he can do it.
basicaly he thinks the TB might be too deep for him to get to it all.

so let me know and youll get a discount from him. itll be 135 with return shipping included.
normal price will be around 165 w/ return shipping included.

PS. 3.0L 2.7L and 22RE will be available too after the first 3.4 has been completed (same pricing).

As amusement said, for you to see any difference, you would want to get the intake and plenum extrusion honed. Doesn't make much difference to flow more air to the plenum and intake if they can't flow anymore.

EDIT: I beleive downey does extrusion honing, but its about $500 the last I remeber.

well that is true, but it can help presuming the TB is the limiting factor.
im sure the plenum now can flow more than the TB can in stock form.
