Stolen CAT covered under Comp Coverage?

Stolen CAT covered under Comp Coverage?
FYI - I'm located in Bay Area CA...Pleasanton.
I saw threads on the board about this, didn't think it would happen to me in broad daylight. I had taken my motorcycle to work in the morning then the truck after lunch due to rain. Parked for only 3 hours come out and find this upon start up.

Anyone tried turning this in as a comprehensive claim? I have a $0 deductible so I might as well try. Funny thing is that I work one of the large insurance companies, but I deal with Budget not claims.
Assuming I don't go through insurance, I debated having a pass through pipe installed, but do guys think a muffler shop will do that for me?
What pisses me off even more is the recycle shops that take these stolen cats. WTF..do they really think when the crackhead comes in that it wasn't stolen?

I don't think the cheap aftermarket cats will pass CA emmisions...maybe under the sniffer, but not visual inspection. Maybe someone else from CA who has been through this can clarify.
I would like to get away with only $100 for parts and maybe $100 for labor, but I'm afraid that is a pipe dream.

Aftermarket cars are cheap and they may not have the longevity of OE cats, but to be CARB approved they have to match the duty rating and emissions control standards set by CARB at the time of testing. Therefore, they would have to pass emissions inspection for performance (provided you can match the duty requirements of the OE equipment).
I guess the question is still what happens when you go to a CA muffler shop and say that you need them to install a cat on your OBD2 vehicle? Do they send you to the dealer? Do they tell you they can but it might not pass smog? Or what?
I think you can make a comprehensive claim, just as you would if the wheels were stolen or any other type of theft (especially if it was parked at your house).
Additionally, Steve J suggested some web sites for CARB approved cats in my thread. A local shop may not want to weld them on if they do not fit though.

I got one of those "cheap" aftermarker cats installed and I live in CA. The guy told me they would definately pass the smog test no problem, and if it didn't, and the cat was the cause, I could take it to him, and he would take care of me.
$120 welded on there, not too bad considering if I had a 3rd gen it would be over $300. Thank god for OBDI.

I swear some day soon we are going to have a section for nothing but stolen cats because we get at least 1 post about it per day. It's hideous that the governemnt (national, state, local) don't do something about trying to hamper it!

There seem to be multiple cat threads and all this concern around CARB and smog checks. I never had a problem with any of my cheap cats in Los Angeles. Here's a link to my experience.
