I wouldn't even use that stuff in my lawn mower.

You will find that much like the fuel your put in your tank it all comes from the same few refineries with the only difference being some additives..

Put what ever you want in it as long as you change it regularly it shouldn't make to much difference.

Here is a good breakdown of the no-name oils:

I should've disclaimed that I use Amsoil in everything, including my lawn mower.

I'm with Co on change intervals regardless of the brand. I could've saved some extra money over the years NOT buying brand name stuff when it came to engine oil. Used to do Amsoil but the stuff is not as affordable and readily available as the deals I can snag locally.

I cant really tell the difference...other things like neglect and abuse are more apparent than merely the effect of using a particular brand for things like engine oil....until the topic of country of manufacture comes to debate.

In these engines, who cares. I ran the 10 dollar for 5 quarts special for years. Bottom end is still fine. Have a new engine now. It gets 5w-30 brand name Castrol Synth. It would be just fine with any other brand.
If under 100K -> 5 or 10W-30
Over 150K -> 5 to 10W-40 (thicker at operating temp if tolerances have gotten a bit to "big")

Never go 50 or 20. 50 can get to thick, 20 is sewing machine oil - this engine won't get fuel savings that way.

What vehicle are you planning on using this oil?

I am not a fan of Walmart as a store, so I don't go in much, but I am willing to bet the Walmart Supertech is quite a bit better than the oils that were available when my 1987 Truck was new. We are now several API (American Petroleum Institute) oil service classifications away from what was available when our 1980s and 1990s trucks were made. Oil technology has advanced quite a bit since then. The service classification shown on Walmart's website shows that Supertech has the latest API rating of "SN". It is more than likely just fine to use. I would suspect that the additive packages in the Supertech probably don't last as long or are as fancy as big name brands (just speculation, no proof), but that just means don't do really long drain intervals.

I am probably one of a half-dozen people who buy the Genuine Toyota oil from the dealer. It is just convenient to get the Genuine Toyota oil when I buy my oil filters. Both the oil and filter are for a great price considering how expensive other parts can be from Toyota.
