Rust under the windshield.
Hey guys, can someone help me with how I should go about repairing the rusted out spots where my windshield sits? I pulled the windshield out and noticed several places where there were holes through the metal. I have cleaned the areas real good and bought some por15 treatment kit. But what should I fill the holes with? I’m really not wanting to cut and weld in new metal. Here are pics of the worst spots.....the bottom left and bottom right corners.

ELIMINATE THE TRIM. Do it RIGHT like Jeep did; No stupid trim that traps dirt and even saltwater, and cause rust like you just found.

You better keep that quiet around here. LOL
I am kind of curious how much junk is behind my window trim. I bet there is quite a bit even though my truck is pretty clean.

TOYOTA did it right, too, but only in the rear ...

Thanks guys. I have read those other threads and they are all very helpful. Just didnt know if my problem looked to serious for body filler, which is what i would rather do than weld new metal.

Most welcome. If you absolutely could not do new metal, a compromise would be use good urethane windshield adhesive to install windshield, then fill gap and all holes with same adhesive. It is very strong as evidenced by how much work it took to remove the old adhesive. Then paint over it.

You're almost guaranteed to break some clips. It would be a good idea to avoid deforming the chrome (stainless steel really) trim. Absolutely not a god idea to re-install. You can sell them to the UN-KNOWING or those who like rust around the windshield- LOL!
