Questions about my 84 4wd toyota pickup base cab
Well, I bought this truck and seems the PO wasn't completely honest with me It's a 84 4wd base cab.. As i go through my truck for a restore I'm finding a lot of differences, with the body, frame, ect. I know the PO changed the engine to a 20R, so I got that part. Don't know why. Anyway I have a few things that don't add up.
Is there a vin number on the frame? The cab has the vin number, JT4RN60R9E5030182, is there a way to match it to the frame? Want to make sure the PO just didn't drop the cab on a different frame.
I need to order parts for the restore and I'm a bit confused about what I actually have here. Another thing I noticed is the wiper arms, they have nuts holding them on, not the ones that show for replacement. Little things like that make me wonder,
Any advice would really be a help,
Thanks

There should be a partial VIN stamped into the frame around the right front wheel area.
If Toyota stamped the frame the same way in 1984 as they did in 1987, the Frame Code should be in the form of Chassis Code (RN60 according to the VIN you posted) and the last 7 digits of your VIN (5030182)
It should look like this: RN60~5030182

Got another question for ya since you were able to help me before. Like I said in previous threads, I don't know the history of this truck. As i dig into other areas I'm finding more. Now I'm looking at my steering wheel and column and box. My 1st glue that maybe this is not the original one is the plastic cover that fits over the box. it doesn't fit! and I believe that the whole thing was replaced with a different set up. I would include a pic but my truck is under 5 inches of snow. Is there any numbers on the steering column to identify it? Another question is the diameter of the long front sway bar, what is the stock diameter? I'm gong to replace the bushings and maybe the bars to heavy duty ones but the ones they sell are it seems the same as what I have now, 19mm, again, don't know if they were already changed or these are original stock. Any brands you suggest to replace it with?
Thanks,
Mike

Post up some pictures when you get the chance or maybe someone else that has experience with 1984 Trucks could give you some pointers.
