Crank position sensor wires ripped out

A beautiful thing happened while putting my timing cover back on. My help pulled the plug for the Cps and it pulled the wires out of it. If anyone happened to have the day off and a 96 or other year if there the same (99 isnt) I'd love to know wich color goes to which. I think it was red and white on one end and blue and yellow on the other. Thanks in advance

Just got to thinking maybe it's the cam position sensor it's the plug on the left side facing the engine that's lower and clips via a plug to the front of the timing cover.

What engine? And, if it's on the passenger side Toyota considers that the right side as they use a reference point as if you were sitting in the driver seat.

There are probably pics here that will show what you need if you do a search.

Always is....add it to your signature line.

The cam position sensor wire clips to the upper cover. Take a look at post 3 here....it looks like the wire colors were the same colors on both sides of the plug here.

Hey guys. New to the forum. I have a 1998 tacoma 3.4L that the wires from the crankshaft position sensor connection that connects to the timing belt shield got caught in the fanbelt and ripped the wires off. I got a new connection. The new connectionhas 2 black wires. The 2 wires I have to connect to is a BLUE and YELLOW wire. The blue and yellow wire is going back into the wiringharness to the top of the engine. Which wire is the hot wire??

Mine has blue and red in the layout of my very over exposed picture here. The cam sensor is essentially just a coil of wire. There's basically no polarity. Wiring either way won't hurt it. I have seen a few where being backwards can cause some runnability issiues or no starts. Again thigh no harm will be done. Try wiring it with the twist method one way and see if it runs right. If it doesn't switch the wires and try it again. Once you figure out for sure how it goes, wire it up correctly. I like solder and heat shrink. Some like crimp connectors. If you go the crimp method get the good ones with heat shrink on them.
