Windows Media Player SLOW
Hi
Does anyone know why Windows Media Player sometimes slows to a very slow ripping speed (less than 1% per minute) sometimes? Most disks rip fine, but some take forever to rip. Disk damage? |
Do you have anything else running in the background while ripping?

i'd use a different program, if your just taking disc images, something like winiso, or even nero will do that for ya. using windows media player for that is like using a camera phone and expecting 35mm quality.

Yeah, Media Player sucks in general. I avoid it like the plague. Nero is great for ripping CDs and the like. You should really give that a try.

Have you ever tried Cd ex? I've been using it for a while now to rip my audio cd's.

Mine is always super fast now that I have 2 gigs of ram and a new processor.. Still that program is really slow in general, even on a really fast system. Grr

I rip all of my CDs with iTunes now.
Whether putting MP3s onto a disc to turn it into an audio CD (stereo in 4Runner will not play MP3s raw), or taking an audio CD and converting it to MP3s to put on the PC iTunes licks butt. |
I use CoffeeCup MP3 Rip & Burn for all of my ripping needs. http://www.coffeecup.com/mp3-ripper/ It does everything that WMP does cleaner and faster.
If you have any interest, I am an "ambassador" for CoffeeCup, which basically means "a long time user". As a result, I can give you a free copy, if you are interested, no strings attached. The whole deal is documented in this thread I started; http://www.wattora.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2855 Anyway, if you want me to submit your email address for a download link, PM it to me. |
