It is that time of year again, time for PC gaming
My youngest son stopped by last Sunday and brought over his new gaming PC.
I put Unreal Tournament III on it for him, patched it, and got all of the extra maps and bonus packs that I have for my UT III. With fall here and shorter days, I look forward to gaming on weekend nights with him and other friends online. I use an app called Fraps to record videos when I game to benchmark with. Ever since I built my new gaming PC last Christmas, whenever I used Fraps the sound came out distorted when played back. I installed a newer Fraps today, and I also turned down the audio properties in the soundcard for the "what you hear" under the recording section. That fixed it, as I had it up to high before. It is on about 30% now, and pretty clear. This video here was about ten GB, then shrunk down with Windows Movie Maker to about 45 MB. Then uploaded to YouTube. My playing is not the best in it on account of the Fraps demanding a lot of the CPUs since it records in raw AVI files at 60 frames per second and full screen. But it turned out OK. Believe me, I am a pretty decent player when it comes to the Unreal series, but like I mentioned, with Fraps running it is more difficult. If anyone has not used Fraps before, you should give it a try, it is pretty cool to watch back your gaming. |
them are some killer grafix

Thanks.
The Unreal series is my favorite first person shooter of all time. The new UT III is really good. Better graphics than UT 2004, and the game play is more like the original UT '99. |

He he he...
Both my sons are now playing Age Of Conan. They like it better than WOW. |
I have a hard time getting into MMO games. I tried FFXI and that lasted about a month

Hey, tomorrow sometime I will record one of the new team deathmatch maps from the new community bonus pack.
It is based in a futuristic Hong Kong of course, and the lighting in it will blow you away. I also have a mod that replaces the mini gun with the ripper weapon from UT99. Was playing with that earlier in the evening. We may try and put the game back up on my friends Counter Strike:Source server again, but last time we had trouble when we installed the web admin interface. It held the CPU at 50%, and ticked off the Counter Strike guy's, as they were getting lots of lag. On my friends previous server we had web admin working perfectly for UT III. It might have something to do with some files on the new server. But for now, he took UT off of it last winter after only having it on for a few months. |
i just bought the UT pack on Steam. what sever do you play on
|
Whatever server I can find.
I am not really keen on playing on pubs though, as they do not have low grav, UT Comp, (hit sounds & map voting) and other stuff I like. That is why I enjoyed playing more when we ran our own server. We used custom maps too, and a ot of the pubs run stock boring maps that get tiring after awhile. For now I host, and my son logs into my game. |
Here is the Hong Kong map.
And please take note it is hard to aim when recording. This six minute vid was compressed to around 70 MB with Movie Maker from Windows. The raw footage was around 6 GB, and that makes playing/aiming very difficult. I record with Fraps at its highest settings, so it really taxes the CPU. |
Old thread :D
Have not played this game in a long time, hard to find time for gaming anymore. But I would like to play UT3 sometime again during these winter months. Was just over on the UT3 forum, and saw this new video listed someone recently made. To long of an intro, but the game action is good. UT3 and the previous UT were my favorite PC games of all time next to Jedi Knight II that came out years before the original UT. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDyXwCk9bO4 |
