phpBB

I'm planning on starting a forum for my business (office furniture - yeah I know, REAL EXCITING  ) I just registered www.furnitureresource.info :D There do not appear to be any non-discrimanant office furniture discussion boards out there, so I can probably be one of the first.

Anyway, since the site won't be sponsered anytime soon, I need to do this on the cheap. I came across "phpBB" in my search. www.phpbb.com It is "free" software. I've used a forum built on this platform and it seems just fine. www.pghoffroad.com

How hard is something like this to set up? I understand and can do basic web design, FTP, and such, but wondered if this is a much diffferent animal.

Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

where are you hosting this site? the host should provide you with directadmin or cpanel. In that there should be a thing called fantastico. If you have that it is an easy install. In fact there wont really be anything for you to do. It installs itself where you tell it to.

Please, Please, PLEASE do not host it with godaddy! I've had a bunch of problems with them, especially their email server. :pat:

Thanks for the warning. I was likely heading that direction. Who should I look to - (cheap but good) - ?

These guys have pretty good service, or so I hear. IIRC, it's r0cky's brother.

Or Digital Crowd. They host YT, and are a bit more pricey.
