network usage utility...
hey.. kinda curious if anyone knows of a windows utility that will break down what exactly is using up the bandwidth per application... cause my download app is only showing about 10% of usage that the task managers network tab is claiming to be used.
thanks |
If you're in Windows, open up PERFMON (START | RUN | PERFMON) and grab the Network Interface from the PERFORMANCE OBJECT drop down box, then add appropriate counters - will be obvious when you see it and there is a button to explain them.
With perfmon up and graphing, see what your network activity is BEFORE your download, then start your download and see what it is. The difference would be what that application is consuming. If you have much other traffic it might warrate a closer inspection. |
not exactly what i was looking for, but thx... i can uninstall the third-party software i had been using for more accurate traffic monitoring. looks like im going to have to just keep a close eye, and kill a process here and there till im sure as to whats causing the extra bandwidth usage.

Maybe this...
On XP Control + Alt + Delete and then click processes? Does that help? |
This is painful to watch.
Here's one that took all about 25 seconds to find: http://www.download.com/NetPeeker/30...ml?tag=lst-0-7 |
