Graphics problems
Not much of an online gamer but the first one I try to play (Second Life) is messing with my video card. I tried downloading updated drivers and redownloading the program but havent had any luck. Heres a screenshot of whats going on....maybe someone has had a similar problem and knows whats going on.
Basic specs are AMD Athlon 2600 512 MB DDR-PC3200 RAM SOYO KT600 Dragon v1.0 80MB Samsung HD GeForce MX4000 Twin 128MB 8xAGP http://img55.exs.cx/img55/9104/snapshot0016ie.png |
On my laptop I'm having a hard time seeing whats in the picture.....but my suggest would go on the games webpage and look for FAQ or other graphic related info....sometimes games will require you too do something silly, like adjust an anti alias setting or just something like that too get it to fuction properly....oh and do you have the latest directx and all?....

Talked to the live help and one guy said I've never heard of that problem, download the new drivers for your video card. So I did and the next person on live help said, Im not much of a techie so I can't help you. I said can you transfer me to someone who can and he/she said no. I emailed support but havent heard back from them yet either and dont see anything on the website regarding this issue. Im also getting C++ runtime errors now. I would just say f it and not play the game but my digital media class is going to be solely in this game and we have a virtual place to meet for class, etc.
I did download the latest directx also.... |
hmmm... the main checklist with any video/game problems is...
1. Latest Video Drivers from card manufacturer (nVidia) 2. Latest Patch/Update from game developer 3. Latest DirectX Update (9.0c) 4. Check Compatibility with said game (i checked their site, its crap... :( ) If you have/had onboard video, did you disable it? if so, in windows AND the BIOS? While in the BIOS, did you set the main card as AGP, and the aperture to the equal or double memory. (128mb card = 128 / 256 aperture size.. ive read conflicting statments, usually i go with 2x for aperture) Make sure all features of DirectX are active.. Start>Run, type in 'dxdiag' Click on 'Display' tab, then check to see that directdraw, direct3d, and agp texture are enabled. (test if you like) Check your hardware acceleration level. Go to display settings, then click 'advanced', then click on 'troubleshoot' and slider up to max. Oh, 5. Buy a new card :D As for the C++ runtime errors, try doing a windows update? If that doesn't work, its probably shotty programming on the developers behalf. Sorry, I couldn't find any specific problems related to this game... although there were alot of complaints with other games. |
