Who is going to get one?
I have a free cell phone and service from Boeing now, but this is pretty cool.

Bummer (sort of), I just dropped Cingular for T-Mobile.

Oh, well. I don't really care for iPods. But I like the other features on it. Not enough to justify the $599 price tag. That's a WINCH!!!

I have another year on this current contract with Cingular. Once the contract is up, I'll probably re-up with that phone or the updated version they may have at the time.

only if sprint got this phone....

More junk people feel they need to buy. I'll stick with my nokia 5140. It's rugged, good battery life, and sounds very clear. That's all I need a phone to do.

yes i'm getting this, with ANY company! i read some were it gonna run around $500. if it will, its like the best price ever, for a internet ready, video ipod, video/photo camera, wifi and blue tooth ready, which runs on Mac os X, not to mention touch screen and its small thin and light! its about the best hand held device you can get. I've said for while now, when apple finally does a ipod phone i'm gonna be first in line, this tops what i ever had in mind!:bowdown: apple for finally making my dreams possible and here i was ready to get a Q....

I'm waiting for the technology advancement to slow down to a normal pace before I get into the gadget world again.

There is something cool coming out every week now in every market.

Now, Apple makes pretty good products, and this doesn't look like it'd be a bad thing, but c'mon, most people here have working phones already. You could order a winch, sliders, a 1UZ-FE engine, a bumper, a set of seats, a stereo, *mile long list etc*. You're only a short way off from being able to afford a MacBook at that price. I work at an apple authorized comp. shop so I support apple, but there are better ways to spend money.

P.S. I have a Treo 700p and feel that even though it is a great phone, manages my appt's with clients, date book, contact list, camera, internet portal (usb modem), it is still a little bit more than most people will do with their phones.

It's priced to compete with the Treo's, Q's, and Blackberry's ... it has the edge on them with features. Too bad it uses Cingular.

I think it looks amazing, almost tempting enough to switch carriers.

Looks huge and clunky and probably will have the first year bugs like all new gadgets seem to have. I'd wait til it improves and gets smaller.

I'd be willing to try it. I too just switch from Cingular to T-Mobile for the new Blackberry 8100. Love it.

Not sure I could give up the instant email push for it, though.

anyone know what the battery life is like? i bet if you really used it to its full potential, it would barely last an hr.

It's approximately the same size as the video Ipod but slightly taller to accommodate for the wide-screen and the thickness is thinner than the video ipod. For a phone I'd say it's not that bad considering a lot of people have the video ipod and don't complain about the size.

Battery life should be interesting as it doesn't use a hard drive but rather a flash drive found in the ipod nano.

yeah but it also uses a large touchscreen

During CES, click the radio button on the top that says "CES Optimized" and then the SET button. It'll make it easier to browse through everything.
