Picasa 3 + Geotags + Garmin = Fun!
First off, download free Picasa 3. Too many new features to list, a significant upgrade. You can now export pictures to Google Earth with geotags.
http://picasa.google.com/ Next, find a compatible GPS. I got a Garmin nuvi 265WT from Costco yesterday for $250. Once you connect it to your computer you can d/l firmware, software and map updates for free in a few minutes. This has the 333 Mhz processor from their high end units and is significantly faster and more sensitive than my last Garmin 760. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=13430 The 265WT has an awesome new feature. You can select any picture from Google Earth and d/l the geotag directly to your GPS and it'll take you there with text-to-speech turn by turn navi. I don't think it has FS roads, but you can buy SD cards with that info. However, it does have maps for all 50 states and Canada. This is gonna be such a fun toy for exploration. |
