Handheld CBs?
I've recently looked into getting a cb. While looking I've come across handheld cb radios. I got to thinking this would be good for me and my friends since they wouldn't install a permanent cb but think it would be a good idea that we all have them while on road trips or other outings.
Anyway, what are the general range on these things? Especially with no external antenna on the vehicle just the one on the handheld unit. |
i have an old midland 805. sucky performance withi the rubber ducky antenna.
i tweaked an external mag mounted and i was amazed afterwards... nice since i can spot people while i'm outside and they are inside the vehicle. this is before FRS. |
You'd probably be better off with a frs radio. They will have a better range than the handheld CB, but if it is line of site offroad or highway either will do.
