CB only buzzes?
 

Cobra 25, 7' firestik, 18' coax with fire-ring. Mounted on the back of my 87 4runner. I got the radio second hand but all the other parts are brand new. I don't know if the radio is broken or if I missed something on the install. I assumed it was all hooked up but I can't get anything but a low buzz from the speaker..

try unhooking the antenna see if that helps ive got a swr meter if you haven't tuned the antenna yet

I just put it all together the other day. I read someplace that using a cb without the antenna can fry it. .

same goes for having a antenna out of tune

Can you turn the squelch up?

I work a lot so I haven't had a chance to mess with it again. Adjusting squelch doesn't do anything. I hope to play with it again tomorrow morning. I'll check my connections again for the 4th time. If I still can't get anything I'll try to find someone local with a working head unit that can help me test things.
