CB install
Want to install a CB in my 95 4- Runner below the radio has anyone done this? and what is the best antenna? :dunno:
|
I think people are running Uniden Pro's in that spot:
http://www.bobscb.com/cb/uniden/uniden.htm And the antenna probably depends if you are gonna run power thru it, keep it on full time, want best possible transmission or good looks. |
For the '89 to '95 truck and '90 to '95 4Runners, the Uniden 520 fits the lower DIN tray, and also the Cobra 18 I believe.
Here is the Uniden 520 in Jim's '89 truck. He likes the radio so much, he went with the same model in his '84 truck also. http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/jims_cb/cb1.jpg External speaker http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/jims_cb/cb2.jpg http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/jims_cb/cb3.jpg MIC clip http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/tando/jims_cb/cb6.jpg You can tune this radio from a shop to around 15 watts output too. Jim's new one in his '84 is putting out that much after an "inside" tuneup. |
I hear there is this smokin CB in Riverside. Buck up and get the extra frequencies. Cobra148gtl ; Superstar ; Galaxy. No sense in yodeling at the Grand Canyon unless you hear the echoe. CYA Beek!

Hey! I've got a Cobra 18 mounted below my CD player in the extra 1 din slot. It's hooked up to a 3' Firestick II antenna mounted on my fender. Not sure if this antenna is the best or not, but it has worked out so far! I got my CB, mount, and wire at www.onestopelectronics.com.
Hope that helps! Have fun. :) DH6twinotter |
