I spend alot of time in my truck as well, so to me it's justified. I've had my truck for only 2 weeks now and this is the first mod I've done. I had an Alpine in my last truck, but in the Tacoma it was a problem. When the screen motorizes out and flips up, it completely covers the HVAC controls. This is a new Kenwood that just came out. It is a double-din unit which means a perfect fit for our trucks.

Here's some pics:

Here's what I see when I get in the truck:

Once you turn the ignition on, the screen motorizes out(fully adjustable) to get a better view of the screen.

Here's my view...

That looks pretty sweet... I'm about to put a screen in that same spot on mine although I don't think it will have the swivel action though. Tell me, where did you install the head unit?

That actually is the head unit. The face motorizes down to reveal the CD/MP3/DVD slot, and the tuner just shows up right on the screen. You can control all functions directly off the touchscreen.

Here's the linky...

Kenwood

They're floating around eBay for about $1050 new:

Then, even if you don't like their pricing, Crutchfield has a lot of info on it:

Heres my set up in my car and It makes trips go so much faster. And I can plug any system in the back and can take it with me instead of it always being in the car.

has anyone installed an lcd screen in a second gen? I ordered a 7.2" and have already wired up the power inverter for the PS2 but I don't know where Im going to put the screen.

Im thinking about the glove compartment. I dont have any kids and its usually me and a friend or my girlfriend. No use in putting in in the back seat. I like the glove compartment because I can shut it out of site form thieves and police officers. (have any of you with screens in the front had any trouble with the law?)
