Internal Antenna

I have seen the TACO WHIP MOD, but I would like to eliminate the whole intenna. Does anyone know if you can install an internal antenna type thing in 96-02 4runners? I have seen the diversity antenna that sticks to the window and was wondering if there was something similiar that can stick to your rear side back windows? Thanks!

sure...

as long as the copper wire is around 31" (this is the middle of the FM band).

goto radio shack. IIRC they had one you can tape around the top of your windshield...

i think that the 3rd gen's have an internal antenna already affixed to the right rear cargo window (mine does).

i have not disconnected my elec ant yet, but since its busted i was looking on how to hook up the internal antenna instead.

unless toyota was on drugs designing their diversity tuning head units, the antenna connector should be the standard type.

so you should be able to unplug from the main to the sub antenna with no problems...

(on my sony head units with diversity tuning, both antenna connectors are the same and the plug into the main electrical one. my 2nd gen did have an option for a second antenna in the right rear quarter panel window...)

i figured it was a standard connector, i just havent taken it apart to verify.
anybody who may have done it already hasnt posted any details.
it seems like the best solution for an elec antenna replacement, its already installed.

On my 3rd gen the 2nd connector is a smaller/European style plug. You might have to use an size up adapter to convert to a standard size antenna connection.
