DVD player question
hey guys,
before to long im going to get a in-dash DVD player for my truck. i know with these DVD players you have to wire into the parking brake to be able to watch a video. my question is can you just put that wire on a switch?? or do you have to wire it into the parking brake??if so how do you wire it into the parking brake?? thanks for any help |
Why would you have to wire it to the parking brake?
Just wire it to a power source, ground it and call it a day. |

Uh yea pretty much. Like a wired source that comes on with the key or something.
Wire it like this: Power source to inline fuse holder to device. Thats how I wire everything and have never had any issues ever. Only difference I use a fuseblock I bought at the parts store in my truck. |
how hard is it to install a fuse block? also how do you know what type of fuse to get?

Youa have to have an interupt in the "park brake wire".. read your instructions on how to play a dvd. if it tells you to set your parking brake, disengage it then set it again, you will need to run a toggle in the line to act as your parking brake switch... most are no power, power 3 seconds, no power, power on..... Call tech support, tell them its for you ATV trailer, they'll help you out sometimes... I have to interupt mine like noted above to play a DVD while driving..
Note, Mines wired like this for my kids, not for me to watch while driving... |
It depends on the brand of player. On quite a few of them all you have to do is give it a ground...usually a brown wire if I remember right. Some of the players, as mentioned above, need pulses. What kind of player is it?
|
if its a pioneer you can ground the brown wire i believe.. My Alpine needs a pulse (interupt)
