1982 sr5 pickup sound system

I just picked up a 1982 Toyota pickup a couple days ago that had the door speakers removed and I’m sure the radio doesn’t work either, what kinda of upgrades are out there for it?? Because it didn’t have the speakers when I got it, I’m not real sure what I’m looking for in terms of size and wattage. What head unit would work as well? I’ve been making good use of the search bar the last hour or so and can’t find anything that helps me out

I would just find a new head unit with bluetooth input that would fit in stock radio opening (single-DIN), then a pair of speakers to match it.

Re Search, Use the "Google" option.
"Threads" and "Posts" option are worthless.

so I’m better off making something work and being creative with it rather than finding something that fits like factory? I don’t have any issues with that and it’s probably cheaper too!

Absolutely, and it would allow you to play mp3 or streaming from phone or mp3 player thru bluetooth or aux inputs. Better than CDs on rough road.
Simple head units with bluetooth shud be available for less than $100.
I put up with torn speakers that came with my truck in 2012. Recently upgraded to Polk Audio component speakers. Not the loudest bass but clean. I put the woofers on the door and the tweeters at ear level on A-pillars.

Just remember to measure depth on any door speakers you get to make sure they won’t hinder your window from rolling up and down, they sell shallow mount speakers, try to stay away from spacer adapters, they look kinda blah;)

just get a pair of 4x6 speakers for the dash, a cheap headunit, a 4 channel amp, and a sub for behind the back seat. You wont regret it.
