Where is the search button?

Yes I Know it is in the navigation bar, but it blends in sometimes, all the harder for someone new to the site.

May I suggest the font for the search button be in a contrasting color to make it easy to find.

On mine it is always the 4th link to the left in the blue taskbar at the top.

You can always go straight to the URL: https://www.yotatech.com/search.php

We had a blinking color at one point but it got a little annoying having to look at it all the time.

Does anybody else have trouble with the ad at the top covering up the entry field on the search feature?

elblako91 Apr 7, 2010 07:30 AM

Yes I've encountered that a couple of times.

Making the search button Red would be a good idea or a different color at least. I can see how the flashing would get annoying after a while but i don't think having it in a different color would. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe we can make it all caps "SEARCH"

elblako91 Apr 7, 2010 07:50 AM

Who has the power to do that anyways? Is it just the administrator?

Elton Apr 7, 2010 07:53 AM

i say we ditch some of the button's we could live with out or make them into one with a list of things

broncrider Apr 7, 2010 07:59 AM

think making it caps or a certain color would be good. though newbies most likely still wont use it

ya in this color SEARCH. and make it bold

firemaniac Apr 7, 2010 08:04 AM

Thanks Fink. Yes blinking would be annoying, but a contrasting color would make it stand out somewhat for the users that are brand new to the forum, and are not used to where it is. Every forum has the search button in a different place, and some are harder to find than others.
OC Caps may be just enough to draw the new eye to the search button, it is worth a try.

I'm all for it. We should start a poll and have everyone vote. Let's get this going.

Never had this issue - I browse with the latest version of FireFox at home and IE8 usually at work, may be a resolution or browser problem.

Not sure how the colors work - if we can just color the lettering or make a box around it with a certain color in it.

I think this is a good idea regardless of whether we do a color change.

Corey or IB - mods can't do it.

This is another idea I have had - my personal laptop is a widescreen so it's not a problem there but here at work I have dual screens and neither are widescreen so if I leave it one one, it can get a little scrunched.

We make the forum rules red and hardly anybody reads those - good point.

I don't think there's a need to vote - we had talked about doing it in the Staff section a few weeks back due to the rash of newbie threads being posted.

yeah, i use firefox too. can't stand explorer anymore. not every ad does it either.

elblako91 Apr 7, 2010 05:08 PM

I'm using safari and some ads to block the search button. Some not all of them.
