What products have you discovered work for things not intended by the company that made them?

As an example oven cleaner for cleaning greasy parts.
Coke (the cola) for cleaning off battery corrosion.

(in the locksmithing industry) those pointy things the dentists use are great for removing handles off of a schlage entry lock.

A few weeks ago at AAA lockout training course I had to take for my job the instructer informed us that the correct way to clean battery terminals is to make a mixture of 25% baking soda and 75% water. I just figured I'd pass the information along...

ATF works as a great cleaner. I use it on my muzzle loaders after the season I just let them soak a few hours and the inside the barrel is good as new

I once heard the gel inside a baby diaper is a good fire retardant. I hear some guy took it and made a product for people to spray on there homes in CA. during wild fires.

Wrong, it neutralizes the acid.
