Smittybilt front bumper misaligned?

I recently came across a classic double tube Smittybilt front bumper for my '89 pickup. It came with both brackets, so I bolted it all up, but it looks misaligned. There's a 1-2 inch gap between the top of the bumper and the fender all around. The brackets (both the separate and bumper's) were a little rough and bent, but the metal bent back down when I tightened all the bolts. So I'm wondering if I got a bumper not meant for a Yota? Or perhaps the wrong year Yotas? Also, the wraparound ends aren't the same length like I've seen on others' Smittybilts. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance, guys.

-ps. And as a reference, the third picture shows a similar pickup with a completely different looking smittybilt, it seems..

Can you buy those end caps? I doubt someone would go through all that trouble, but you never know. Maybe someone modified it for shorter body mounts

Well.. I saw some pictures of other guys' Smittybilts and their brackets looked the same..but then the final product is completely different. Idk! Maybe we just unearthed some massive counterfeit Smittybilt bumper making company.. Lol!

Well, I thought maybe the mounts were messed up.. But the stock bumper fits fine and this truck is rust free so I have no idea!

And no body left, either. The truck is almost completely stock.

It is possible you have a earlier model for a 83-85 era truck.

Could also be a universal bumper to fit many different vehicles depending what brackets bolt on the vehicle.

If it bothers you that much make new brackets to fix what bothers you.

Figure out just how much difference you need drill the new holes bolt the new ones on.

First time on site. I'm restoring a back to future truck. Finding rear bumper is easy but Smittybilt does not make a 1986 Toyota pinup bumper anymore. I see they have a 86 jeep bumper that look exactly the same, has anyone tried this? Does anyone know what the length of the 1986 Toyota smittybilt bumper was. Thanks

You have the truck ??

You have the bumper ??

If both of these answers are Yes

Figure out just what you need .

There is the front cab mount bolts

There are the 4 bolts where the hooks or tie downs bolt to the bottom side of the frame..

I weld a section in the front of the frame rails with a m12x1.25 weld nut

That gives you a total of 6 or 8 places to attach your bumper

If you have no fabrication skills any one who has both pieces in front of them can figure it out .

If I had a year of your truck Handy I would gladly build them for you

Do you plan to add a Winch and do serious recovery work ??

yes i have both.
The year of my truck is '92. I don't want to weld anything on to the truck. There are only two spots on the bumper to mount to frame.
