removable doors
 

I am wanting to hinge the doors on my 85 short bed so that they can be easily/quickly removed. Does anyone know of a kit that is available for this or is this something I will need to fab myself?

I haven't searched for this mod yet, subscribed.

Cut the hinge pins out and replace them with removable pins like this

The top pin goes in from the bottom and the bottom pin goes in from the top.

cutting the hinge pin as described above does work but some times the brass bushing gets screwed up when you try to drive the pin out. Not a big deal if you have a couple of sets of hinges.

Heres the thread on the removable doors. Ive since found different pins are a bit longer and you dont have to grind down the bolt head. Or if you trim a bit of the the door you can drop the top pin down instead of up, and its just a little easier.

Also, brash bushings have long fallen out, but its a tail only truck so they doors dont get alot of use.

This is what I did after hacking up a couple of sets of hinges.
Disregard the white Hinge on the left..that brain cramp failed miserably. .I notched the Top bolt hole, allows you to loosen the top bolt slightly and the door will rest in the notch. I can swap both doors in about 10 minutes and it is very secure.
