Rear cage with passenger seats in the bed of truck ideas?

I am looking for ideas on a passenger cage for the rear of an 85 truck. For the kids to go rock crawling with me. Can be with or without the actual factory bed. I dont mind doing all tube and some aluminum panels.

Install a good rollbar and find a set of seats from a Subaru Brat; the ones with the handle grips on. Install a set of seat belts and the kids are ready to go-safely. I had that setup in my truck when I took them cruisin on Datona Beach.

Could mimic a 4xi 4runner cage, then just bolt seats down. make sure they have seat belts too.

Make sure you tie the cage to the frame also.

Your right about that "rattlewagon". I tied the rollbar and the seat brackets into the frame then used grade 8 SS bolts on everything.

Also old school bus seats are a good choice. Seat belts are built in and the lower frame can easily be modified to whatever height you desire. I picked six up from a school auction for $20. I guess I was the only one there with an imagination.lol

Brat seat would be perfect. But I haven't seen any of those in the JY's in years in my neck of the country.lol

i did this on a 69 f-250 i had. i took the bench seat out and bolted it to the front of the bed and bolted the seat belts to the frame. then i put in a old school roll bar in and went over to CHP and they actually signed it off as approved for highway use. i think i was the only one in CA that could carry people in the bed of the truck :)
