Outsane 12-04-2014 06:40 AM

Yotanation228 12-04-2014 09:47 AM

I want to mount it across the top of my windshield

Outsane 12-04-2014 10:11 AM

I want to see you put it behind the windshield... with something below to block the light..

That's a slick idea. A floor below the light to box it in against the windshield. I wonder how much glare would be refracted through the thickness of the glass.

It actually is really cool but a lot of light is refracted through the window something 40% is lost a specially with my tint strip it would prob be more

Outsane 12-05-2014 06:49 AM

just do it!!!!!

Yotanation228 12-05-2014 12:00 PM

Well if you posted where you lived someone close to you might offer to help.

Have you drawn this up so if you find someone you can show them what you want??

I did that with a 32" Light bar to my internal cage.

pros:
keeps it secure
doesn't draw attention to your truck

Cons:
-i don't have a picture of the cover I made but i still had glare inside the windshield that was a major PITA
glare with out the cover(I made a cardboard pattern, transferred that to some Lexan I had and painted that with some black plastidip)

-you lose your sunvisor (I was able to make a roll bar mounted visor so I still had one)
-The light bar generates an incredible amount of heat, it got hot in my my cab.
-from what a couple of vendors that piped in on Pirate said that with out adequate air flow the service life of the light bar would be cut drastically.

I would not recommend doing an internal mount

edit-
I know that your truck doesn't have a gutter but here is a gutter mount I made for a 42" light bar:

i have not been able to make up my mind on lighting with the exception that I will not use a roof mounted light bar. The glare back on the hood and windshield sucks.
My next round is 5 25W knock off version of a Vision X 4.5" Light Cannon

I have sold both my light bars, got what I paid for them

edit 2.0
here is a gutterless light bar mount that would probably work on your 4runner for sale cheap

I really want some for it above the windshield though
