3/14/10

Went to check out some local trails and rivers after getting 5-7 inches of rain over the past couple days. Most memorable part of the day was crossing a part of the road flooded by three streams all flowing to the low point in the road.

Stream Crossing Flex

I made it through two times in 2wd but on the third time, I ended up getting stuck in a deep hole in the stream crossing right where the three smaller streams met. I ended up flooding my 4Runner to almost the bottom of the dash on my drivers side. Luckily a second gen 4Runner pulled up behind me a couple minutes into the whole ordeal and gave me a tug out. I then proceeded to cross it with the 2nd gen following. At least I got pulled by another Toyota (a stock one), not one of the two lifted Jeep drivers that saw me stuck in the middle of the stream and didn't dare venture out to pull me out.

My camera died right at the end so I wasn't able to get any pictures of the recovery or my flooded carpet. I shopvac'd the carpet for a good half hour when i got home and as far as moist floors for a day or two, there were no real problems.
