Well, not sure if I'll be driving over or not. My alternator crapped out on me this weekend when I powerwashed the truck...must have hit it directly??
Those sit so low on the engine, I'm thinking about building a splash guard...
Anyways, hope to see at least 1 yota over there.....

Any YotaTech'ers (Vets to Newbs) in Northern IN want to help/observe/point and laugh at etc a fellow YotaTech'er and newbish mechanic in doing the head gasket on my beater 89 2wd 22r P/U? I'll be looking to tackle this job next weekend (Apr 5th-7th) if anyone is interested. Might be a good learning experience for someone who's never done this before to watch someone else (who also has never pulled a head before) do it first. I'll be posting a thread to document the job later tonight in the proper forum.

Should be relatively easy to do, look for a thread here on the subject, crab a beer or more & dig in.
Best thing I ever did was to find a used factory service manual for your year of truck, or one close to the year since there weren't many changes to the 22re in all its years.
I think I paid $50 on ebay for mine & best $ I spent!
Other than that grab a sharpie marker & some duct tape & label everything you unplug, use zip lock bags for nuts/bolts & label them, and just take your time.
You should be able to finish it over the weekend.

Not stressing it too much. Did the timing job last weekend (chain, sprockets, guides, tensioner, timing cover, oil pump, water pump, etc) Can't possibly be any worse than that. Would just be reassuring to have a vet looking over my shoulder. The support is much appresh'd though. Thanks!

Nah, shouldn't be too much harder than what you've already done. Just more wires & vacuum hoses to deal with.
One thing that did just come to mind is the infamous bolt hidden towards the front of the head. U have to pull the distributor to access it.

Aye. That bolt and I had our first encounter last weekend. Oh, and she's got the 22r so no worries on the vac lines. Thanks for the heads-up and my apologies for jacking the thread. Chok, out.

West Centralist here in Terre Haute. Came here cause I got a new to me '93 runner. Not quite wheelin in it yet. Bummed and looking for a good shop or an abandoned garage to squat in and work.
