Looking for a Mechanic in Vancouver / surrounding areas (BC)
I have been here in BC about a year now and have had no luck finding a good independent mechanic and I can only do limited maintenance in the parking garage.
I have gone and visted a few shops however it usually ended up with me stepping on the gas to get away from the sketchy mechanics.
I have had people tell me my fuel filter is original (2yrs old), that I have a large oil leak (old oil from filter on the skid plate), and even that my coolant was too acidic based on a smell test...
So anyways, if you guys know of a good mechanic in Vancouver or surrounding areas (I will go far for a good mechanic!) let me know.
Thanks

Haha, there is no oil leak! Its just oil that drops onto the skid plate after doing an oil change.
I'll have to zip out to the ridge one of these weekends to shoot the .
I also want to make a little foglight rain guard!

Thanks for the help 'Nuts. I think I may have found a decent mechanic in New West over the weekend. I can actually qualify them as "normal".
I am up for some light duty wheeling to get me back into it. I see in another post of yours you go to Stave lake. What is Stave really all about?

haha my suspension is pretty rough on that road, but its a solid axle (1985). last time i was out there my exhaust rattled loose of my header, and myheader rattled loose. new gasket and tighted the botls, but the exhuast is still bumping on my cross memeber. gotta lift it up a little

Stave is never kind to your ride...
You always end up bashing on it through the stupid mudholes.. Yeah its really fun but the cleanup and damage sucks
Stave hates my front end... or maybe that should be the other way around
Ive yet to go up to the top, last time I was up there was at king of the pitt, and on our way up it started to snow so we just burned and turned.
Not to mention stave mud is more like muddy sand. Horrible for bearings!
I end up just going to a carwash the next night (yes, do this at the unmanned ones!) and spending $15 to powerwash everything off.

My first pick is Simon's Automotive. He's a one man show and he's always busy. If you can wait till he can fit you in, he's worth it. He also seems happy to do more extreme stuff to your vehicle should you allow him.

Not only do I recommend him, but it seems everyone I know that works on their own vehicles use him as a stop-gap when time gets tough, or the problem is more than they want to deal with.
For people in a bigger hurry I recommend Precision Automotive. I've referred a number of people there and not one was ill treated, and the work was done well.

Thanks alot for the suggestions srozell. Langley is getting a bit far, but I have been considering driving 3000km to my mechanic in Ontario just to have that unpenetrated feeling.
I have found a possible good mechanic, but will call your suggestions to get more details.
