drive shaft fell out 2008 ford ranger

I just had my transmission serviced ,rear end serviced and replaced both universal joint. Drove to work three days and was at a turn signal to turn left and the drive shaft fell out. I had to push the car into a parking lot call the mechanic to have it brought back to his repair shop. He said it took 6 guys to push it in the shop that he thinks the problem was the brakes that caused the new universal joint to fall out. I push the car myself I'm a 5'3 girl and pushed it down the street into a parking lot with the door open so I could steer. I looked under the car and I can see the new universal joint still bolted to the rear end but the part for the dive shaft is missing the cups. Its like they forgot to put the retainer clips on the universal joint. I know my old one had clips because I seen them. Can someone tell me what caused this ,the repair shop said he he thinks its my brakes I call B/S because everything worked fine and I pushed it my self so they were not locking up.

Not sure how your 2008 Ranger problem ended up on a 86-95 Toyota forum, but what you said sounds spot on. With the clips installed correctly the caps would never walk out. The clips may not have been fully seated in the groove. Brake problems would also never cause that. If so, everytime someone locked up their brakes in a panic stop we'd have driveshafts flying. Be prepared to deal with the fact you're a woman and they'll assume you don't know what you're talking about.
