02 4Runner power issue
02 4Runner V/6 power issue. It runs but no extra to drive. All coil packs are good new plugs and wires. Tried the IAC not that. Could it be the EGR? Any help appreciated, and also has a new fuel filter.

IAC has nothing to do with power while driving, only idle. EGR Doesn't either, but I can help you test it if you want. Do you have any codes? Do you have a code reader with live data to look at?
Have you tried removing the O2 sensor before the cat and see if that makes it better (cats could be clogged)? Have you done a compression test? Have you looked at the timing belt to make sure it didn't stretch and jump time on either cam? Have you looked at the plugs? I didn't think an 02 V6 had an EGR valve actually... Lots it could be. |
Rough running and power issue
First Thank you for responding. Sorry I’m so slow getting back. So it gives a code for misfire on cylinder 4 where is it on drivers or passenger side? The compression is pretty even on all 6 about 140-150. Pulled the 02 sensor but didn’t help would changing the coil pack on #4 make the difference in power and running smooth. Many thanks.

Power issue
I forgot to mention the timing belt looks to be tight it fires right up but rough running. Thanks.

So the only code is P0304?
140-150psi is pretty low for this engine, but sometimes the compression tester is not calibrated very well or your battery is low or you didn't hold the throttle open... You drove it around without the o2 sensor to confirm it didn't have more power? You did check the timing belt is timed correctly? at tdc, both cam sprockets are lined up with the marks on the metal plate behind them? You can swap the coils around, but since each coil controls two cylinders that doesn't sound like the issue. Do you have a scan tool with live data? |
Power issue
Thank you again, I only ran the truck with the 02sensor out didn’t drive it. The timing belt looks to be tight and sprockets are lined up with the plate behind them. I don’t have a scan tool just the one at the auto parts store. Is it possible it’s a fouled injector? And you were right it doesn’t have an EGR.
|
Yes, it could be an injector. If you want to test it, swap with another injector on the same rail and see if your misfire code moves to the other cylinder.
You should also test fuel pressure when you get a chance. |
Ok I’ll get working on getting the pressure and swapping injectors and get back to you. Thank you

Power issue
Sorry for the delay in responding. The only code is for the misfire on# 4 and did a second compression test with new device all cylinders 200 or better. I don’t have a code reader a friend Is supposed to loan me one this weekend so hopefully something will show. Thank you for responses and sticking with me.

It’s running, it was #4 injector so I replaced them all. Only working on it every 6 days due to work but thanks for your input it gave me direction.
