do i use my toyota belt?

JamesD 08-11-2008 04:23 PM

You should make one using the Ford 3G style alternator. They produce at least 130 amps or more and they seem to be more reliable than the GM ones.

Does this work on a 20r?

Do you simply install the GM alt and run a wire from the alt to the + battery post?

I have not installed one on a 20r myself but I have sold a few for that application

for a single wire alt.

The best way to do it in my opinion is to run a 4 guage wire from the batt. terminal on the alt. to a fuse/breaker then to the battery then take the stock wire that went to the alt. and connect it to either side of the fuse/breaker (wire is already fused within the stock harness)

if you need any other info let me know

Sent you a pm.

Sorry But I’m a little mechanically challenged and need things spelled out, simple like.
As you can see I have an 87 pickup with 22r Carburetor and AC. I want to upgrade the alternator for all the extra crap I like to have. That being said,
Will your bracket work for me?
If so how do I get one from you?
Exactly what GM unit do I need to buy?
Will I need to modify any wiring?
Can you give me detailed installation instructions?
When I click on “GM single wire alternator brackets, Click here” it takes me back to the start of the thread. So maybe I’m computer challenged as well. Thanks, Scott
