Wrench Day

Haven't posted alot regarding pics lately and was reminded to take the camera next time out. Really caught up in life right now, so it was a treat to feel like snappin some pics again.

R.J.Borean Cement contractors (Vince's Uncle:hillbill:) has just offered his shop to us on the weekends. I have a space, but not like this one. So, we headed out with a list of things to do to both trucks since we have a big Turkey Day run coming up.

Vince installed the Aussie Locker up front. Went well, other than the thick/thin ring gear thingy and we ended up pulling it anyways. Took alot longer than expected to get the locker in, but it works like a charm. He's very happy and was impressed with the quality.

I took on several smaller jobs, like getting shocks mounted finally, re did my fuel lines, and those FRIGGIN BEADLOCKS!!! That took forever and honestly, am sick of em'. Balanced them using the golf ball method and you have to make 4 passes with the Allen Wrench on all 32 bolts. X2 for each wheel to get it balanced. Anywho, the average was 4 golf balls with one taking 6  That jived with the amount of lead weight on the previous rims. Turned out great. You can't hear the golf balls at all...

Mike Hendix starts my Toy Chassis the 5th of December and we should be installing it, here in this heated shop with a hoist :hillbill:, in January.

Pics,

Golf ball method?

Works like a washing machine. Centrifical. You lay a wheel on a motorcyle bubble balancer and lay golf balls on the sidewalls till it's flat. Take that number of GBs and throw it inside the tire when you assemble it. It's balanced.

Wow. Do you have to attach the golf balls to the tire? If so, how?

The golf balls go inside the tires.

Nice pics BTW.

No, the go inside the tire. Think of your washing machine. :bigok: Not a new trick and one of several for balancing beadlocks. Just one I like for several reasons. All function.

oic - so as the tires spin up, the golf balls get to the outside on the low spots, and when you stop, they drop back to the bottom...When the tires are rotating slowly, you're not too concerned about balance anyways, so it's OK...Nifty idea.

Thanks Will...Just about ready for the Ftoy.

TC...yes, it is and if the inner bead ever goes the golf balls are easy to find on the trail and won't clog your valves.

Do you have to use DOT approved golf balls?
Where do I get DOT approved golf balls?
is there any specific color I need?
edit.. what about a golf ball speed rating is there something I should look at (OK that's it, really I'm dying here LOL)

Sorry couldn't resist HAHAHA
I know the question is coming on this board Heh
(No these are not serious questions for those of you thinking about asking them)
