What Does Your Winch SOUND Like?

I have a new Warn M8000.

Today, when I was spooling on the synthetic cable I was a bit supprised at the noise it makes.

I have always known winches to make pretty much a loud WHEEEEEEEEEE noise. Mine was sort of rough sounding, like loud (not grinding or anything bad, just loud) gears, sort of like heavy machines in a shop. If I were to type the sound, it would be whshwhshwhshwhsh, I think

Is this normal when it is operated at high speed and no load?

I re-clocked the clutch end of the winch and can see no reason how removing that piece, turing it and bolting it back down could cause this, everything went back smoothly.

The winch worked just fine. It did not ever get jammed or slow down and it did not get hot or any other noticable problems.

Again, this dosen't sound like "Woah, something is very very worng!", just a little different than what I thought.

What say you?

Thanks!
Lamm

Wheeew, there is a load off my back. I though for sure if anybody could ruin a perfectly good Warn winch by doing a simple mechanical task it would be muah.

THANKS!
Lamm
