Well...got my first toyota pikcup! check this out.
Finally...After a lifted wrangler and a cherokee...I got wha ive always wanted.
86 Toyota,74,000 l miles,5 speed,4x4,3 inch body lift and 4 inch suspension,practically brand new 33 inch bfg all terrains,sunroof,rear slider,interior is perfect,autometer gauges,,3.8 buick engine conversion,performer intake,450 holley carb,and a crane cam that if i can remember correctly has a 470 lift,msd ignition,warren hubs,brand new hub bearings,axle bearings,brakes,new clutch,throwout bearing and pilot bushing,new clutch,slave cylinder,headers into dual exaust with brand new dynomax converters,roll bar,kc lights and many other things....too much to list. These are the best pictures I have for now..i'll get more tomorrow when its light out and after I clean it up a bit. ack. Good start I guess. In my eyes that truck needs a little work. I see a SAS, tube bed, and remove the body lift. For God's sake please take off the visor, it makes baby Jesus cry...

yea, its got a worked Buick 3800 in it. She rips! Still on stock gears though. As far as plans...
5:29s lockers front/rear 36 inch TSls or Iroks SAS up front Bobbed bed Inside rollcage On board welder bumpers/sliders winch up front Some other small odds and ends like herculining the inside and the inside of the bed. aswell as fixing the rust on the bed. 44Runner..NO KIDDING the truck needs work. Its an 86 pickup. Man, some people are so damn critical. |

dude, great start! my first was an '83...you always remember the first. its all the ones between the first and the most recent that are a blur! just remember, dont be afraid to wheel it like it is, otherwise you will get stuck in the "great someday's"...someday i'm gonna have this or someday i'm gonna have that...i'll wheel it when i get this done or that done...just put the tires to dirt and have fun!

OOO trust me, those Allterrains are seeing mud. I thnik this weekend. Here is the deal. I ALWAYS wanted a toyota pickup. When i was shopping for my first truck, my dad woudlnt let me get one..he wanted me to have a newer truck. I got a Jeep Wrangler...lol. I built it...Lifted on 34 inch LTBs, 4:88s and lockers front and rear. Beat the snot out of it. Than my dad and mom split...I sold the wrangler and got a cherokee. 3 months later, I said "F it..im getting my YOTA now" So here I am. i LOVE this truck. Cruising around with the sunroof out is great.

Ya know I have to say pull the visor as well not because it s ugly or anything but because my friend had one on his truck and after a few years the bolts torn thru the fiberglass and going down the road one day we heard this awful ripping sound then a bang and pulled off the side of the freeway to investigate and didnt see anything wrong so we got back it and headed to the house. Once we got there it dawned on both of us at the same time the visor ripped off from the wind resistance lifting it on the freeway and it really put some ugly rips in the roof metal were it use to bolt down too and that was with a 22 r motor. If you have the Buick motor that means you can double the speed and wind resistance of the thing on the freeway. Just something you may want to think about.

Heres the only underhood I have..Its before I cleaned it and put a new air filter on. You get the idea though. Thinking about redoing the RADIATOR hoses, with those flexalite hoses. The flexable steel ones.

Looks pretty good...just has the typical 84-88 rust around the bed seam and wheel wells...
Was the 3.8 was they put in the minvans? Must scoot pretty good...Sucks where I live I would have to get a DEQ referee to look at the install. Enjoy the trucK... |
The 3.8s were in the regals and grand nationals...Sadly this isnt a turbo one though :( YET

Truck has a lot of potential. Build it the way you want.
As far as that Holley carb though, I had one on top of a built Buick V6 in a Skyhawk I had years ago and hated it. It seemed like it went through a lot of power valves and it was never jetted right every time the temp changed more than 20 degrees. My Dad's buddy was a Quadrajet guru. He built one for it and it ran awesome after that. The bad part is my Dad gave him a Stage 1 GSX Quarda for it I had stashed. |
Yea^^ I kind of want a CARB with a manual choke. The auto choke is more or less annoying. May even upgrade to a bigger carb in the future.
