WARN 8274 Service Manual & Parts List

MODS, please move this as you see fit, i didnt know where it should go.

This is for all you WARN 8274 (Part #:8403) winch owners. Here's a few links to rebuild writeups:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/8274/

http://forum.ih8mud.com/winching-rec...-part-1-a.html

*************
If you want to know what year your winch was made, email warn here: http://www.warn.com/corporate/contactus.jsp

with the product numbers found on the winch.

*************
Here is the Factory Service Manual WARN emailed me that I'm hosting:

http://www.dojodesign.com/toyota/war...ice_Manual.pdf

And the Exploded Parts diagram and Replacement Parts List:

http://www.dojodesign.com/toyota/warn/M8274_RPL_Old.pdf

*As far as I know WARN doesn't have these on their website, at least I havent been able to find them. They only list the M8274-50 and the corresponding parts lists for them which differ abit from the older models.

NOTE the Serial number information on the parts list, UP TO serial number 337844.

My winch is serial #120365 Part number 8403 and built in 1979

Hope this helps someone! These are AWESOME WINCH's!

No I never mounted it on my truck. I had had plans to but am considering selling my 8274 now. It's an awesome winch and probably the best 8000# winch in the world. But I'd still prefer a planetary gear type (lay down style) over the upright. Little easier to fab a bumper for and not as heavy. The 8274's are friggen HEAVY! lol

But if you can mount it up an don't mind the size/weight they're unbeatable in reliability and performance!

I hear you, they're up past 120# I think. But they are tough, there's a guy selling a like new 8274 near me but I think I have to go with an xd9000 or something like that because of the size. I would love to get it and keep it for backup or something. Lotta dough though.

They're not cheap upfront but incredibly cheap to maintain! Replacement parts arent expensive at all. That was my original plan, rebuild this guy even tho it works fine I wanted to just freshen it up. Could make it almost brand new for like 300 bucks. A far cry from the massive 2k+ price tag Warn has on a NEW 8274-50 !!!

You can even upgrade the motor to a 6HP for not much $. Tho I dont know why you'd want a 6HP, I just see someone losing a hand spooling it up.

Great info ! Where can I get a remote for my 8274?

Do you have any idea where I can find another remote for my 8274 winch? I lost my original in a bad experience camp trip.
Thanks
