torque used on spindle nut?
 

I don't know if thats what it is called or not. Here is the story, I have a 1979 yota, and got some different axels from a friend (these have 5.29's and locked) So I used his axels so I didn't have a bunch of R/R. Well were the front drive shaft bolts to the axle didn't line up, so I removed the big nut, and took my old mounting plate off my orignal axel and put it on this one, but I'm left to know how tight to make this? As from what I understand I just messed with allignment of the gears? Orignally I just used an air hammer to put it back on, but I have yet to see what that torque is at yet. I have not drove it yet, and don't intend to untill I know something.

yep... the pinion depth is off now... save your self the time and money, pull it ALL apart and get your gears reset by a professional.. if i am not mistaken you'll need a master setup kit. while you have it torn apart, put on a triple drill flange from TG (or me) so this issue doesnt happen again. if you dont do it right now and just "guess where it should be" it'll most likely blow up on you and you'll be doing it all over again anyways.. this time you'll be buying new ring and pinion set while your at it.


and for the record its your pinion nut that you too off.

You'll only need a minor install kit - the difference is the master kit includes all the bearings in addition to the seals, crush sleeve, etc.

Search "solid spacer" to find out how to build the diff so you don't have to worry about it in the future.

Well this axle was rebuilt, but I don't know if it has a crush sleave or a soild spacer, I did a search and it came up with three threads. I did some reading on it, and one person says torque it to 52, then on another it says 90. is there a way to see with out pulling off the 3rd to see if I have this spacer, its locked, and has 5.29's I don't know the guy who I bought them from so...
