Spring flex
Im wondering how much more flex I would get out of my frontend if I swiched springs. I have 5" skyjacker springs now, but i need to drop my axel to complete some other work. So im wondering if its worth it to throw some trail gear or allpro springs under it while its apart. The springs are in good shape. Just wondering if its worth it.

I have no experiance with skyjacker, but probably a lot of additional flex.
How much flex do you have now? (pics) How long are your shocks? How much shock is exposed at ride height? |
spring flex
I have custom shock hoops and the shocks have 12" of travel. I set them up with 5 1/2" of up travel witch it uses well with bumpstops. At full compression there is 1/2" of shaft still showing. At full extenshion I still have a few inches of shock to go before they max. Im still trying to figure out how to get my pics up, I dont know how to get them down to 640x480

I would probably go with the trail-gear vs the all-pro. My understanding is the all-pro springs are a lot stiffer than the trail-gear springs. I run the tg 3" spring in the front of my 4runner and the are soft and flex very well. I have 12" shocks also and use just about all of them. If you are running 5" springs you should be more concerned about maxing out a 14" shock, not about not being able to use all of your 12" shock. I would definatly switch springs. What size shackle are you running? 5", 6" 7" ect..

Im running the stock shackels. If your running a 12" shock with 3"of lift and maxing them that sells me. Do you now if they have v6 or hd springs. I have a 220pd winch-bumper combo on it right now and a vortec 4.3 waiting in the garage. Im not sure if the standerd spring will hold all the weight

Those stock shackles are killing your travel as well. They do have 5"hd springs, but you may want to go to a 4" spring and install some 6" shackles. You would sit sbout the same height with that set up. The stock shackles are going to limit your articulation and well as how much your suspension compresses. You may even want to think about a longer shackles and pulling a leaf or two out of your current spring packs. Might just save you some money doing it that way and give you what your looking for.
I am running a v6 on there standard 3" springs, but I dont have a heavy bumper or winch yet. I may have to go to 4" or a hd spring. |
