see anything wrong with a front crawl box being 4.7 and rear box being stock?

I'm looking at the options with MC. My transfer case is good, so I don't see any reason for buying their t case and crawl box combo. http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfe...p-4runner-kits

Here I have the option of getting a stock crawl box and adapter for $629, then later on down the road rebuilding my other (rear) case with 4.7's

Or right now I can get their crawl box with the 4.7 gears already in there with the adapter for $1079. Which is cheaper and I wouldn't have to tear down my case.

Would it be wierd, bad or unheard of to have the 4.7 gears in the front case, stock 2.28 gears in rear case?

If I just want stock, I throw the rear case in lo, if I want more then I JUST put the front case in lo, if I want to lose a race to little old ladies, then I put both cases in lo, correct?

for 1000 bucks, that sound like a worthy cause for my financial aid...I'm already used to eating top ramen any ways

Not unheard of but you need to be careful with using it and possibly upgrade your stock box with stronger shafts. Why? Torque. Stock t-case is designed to see 1x the transmission output. But a 4.7x reduction in front and you can wear things out or break stuff if you get carried away. So best to use stock low range most of the time then the 4.7 only when needed and then be easy on the gas.

I busted an input shaft on my original 2.28/4.7 cases most likely due to me using the 2.28 front case a lot and that overloaded and wore out the splines on the 2nd case. I now only use the rear case 99% of the time and only pop into low range in the front case when it is really needed.
